Another instance where the legacy media, and collectivists in general, are making claims never made by the original speaker on a subject. What Musk did say was that there were millions of individuals in the SS system that had their death status set to "false" that were well past any possibility of still being alive. What he didn't say was that most, or all, of those millions were still receiving benefits. Oh sure, you can totally parse what he said from the context in which he said it and then say that he was completely wrong, but examined in the context in which it was offered, no one to date has established that there are not, in fact, millions of dead people with their death status set to "False" in the SS system.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has multiple databases, including one that gets sent to the Treasury Department each month outlining who is receiving payments.

According to agency statistics, of the 67 million people who receive Social Security benefits, only 0.1% are over the age of 100.

"So, when they're throwing around numbers like tens of millions of dead people are getting Social Security, well there's only 67 million total. What are they talking about? Half the people are actually dead? The numbers are so ridiculous. It's not true," said Kathleen Romig, the director of Social Security and disability policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
