It makes me sick thinking about how much more wealth my family would have if the dollars we contributed to SS was invested outside of our corrupt government.

A fact is information without emotion.
An opinion is information shaped by experience.
Ignorance is an opinion without knowledge.
Stupidity is an opinion that rejects facts.

The problem gets to be this . . . Congress has mandated your participation, and the participation of every succeeding generation of taxpayers, in the "investment", and they are the sole authority on how much of your money you will "invest" each and every year, and the sole authority on how much of your "investment" you may withdraw; thus the Ponzi will never run out of new "investors", nor will previous "investors" be able to cash out their "investment" into the Ponzi.

Madoff would still be going strong under those circumstances . . .

True, the next generation is forced to play the game but older generations were having multiple children at twenty years of age. So you had ten people paying for every recipient. But now we are closer to only two people paying in for everyone receiving benefits.

Now record numbers aren't getting married or having children.
