New Mother and congresswoman for Park and Jefferson County wants to legalize proxy voting on Congressional bills.
Do you support her?
There are advantages and disadvantages in my eyes. If they could vote from their home state, I think they would be less likely to be corrupted by DC lobbyists.
But on the other side, do we really want 100 year old Senators on life support and hospice care essentially having their staffs casting votes?
It would be like the Biden Regime all over again on the local level.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Absolutely not . . . members of Congress must be present in the chamber to vote. Article I, Section 5 of the federal charter defines the quorum necessary for either chamber to conduct business, a majority of its members. If you choose to be away from the seat of the federal government while it is in session, well, you're going to lose the opportunity to cast votes that represent the People who sent you there to represent them in the federal Congress. A better law would be one which limits the total amount of time Congress may be in session during the fiscal year. Less time in DC gives them less time to create mischief and mayhem at the expense of the taxpayers.
Why are we paying representatives that are not mentally capable of representing their constituents?
Oh wait, I guess we already set that precedent with our last president.
