The eighty-year period when the United States embraced the mantle of global economic leadership—when it forged alliances rooted in trust and mutual respect, and championed the free and open exchange of good and services—is over.
While this is a tragedy, it is also the new reality.
And just like that, the age of American empire, the great Pax Americana, ended.
We cannot overstate what has just happened. It took just 71 days for Donald Trump to wreck the American economy, mortally wound NATO, and destroy the American-led world order.
He did this with the enthusiastic support of the entire Republican party and conservative movement.
He did it with the support of a plurality of American voters.
He did not hide his intentions. He campaigned on them. He made them the central thrust of his election. He told Americans that he would betray our allies
ABSOLUTELY DEAD ON DIALOGUE .....I WEEP FOR THOSE WHO R WOEFULLY "WANDERING AROUND'' ,WONDERING WTH IS HAPPENING.
Bulwark is trying to scare you with another anti-Trump screed.
What is happening right now? Russia, Ukraine, and the US are working on a ceasefire. Europe? China? Japan? They are sitting on the sidelines as observers.
Pax Americana continues. And Trump only has three years left.
Don't Panic!

Of course. You never know all the variables. Right now the Russian oligarchs might be throwing Putin out of a Kremlin window.
Watching the Ken Burns American Revolution series, and there were so many times that with a twist of fate or a change of wind, might have ended with a British victory.
In 1775, America laid seige to the British Army in Boston, London sent 50 ships to feed their troops. Less than five made it in nine months. If they had made it through, the rebellion might have easily been squashed.

. Democrats shut down the government in October to demand an extension — their party had set the Dec. 31 expiration date in a 2022 law for budgetary reasons — but eight in their caucus relented last week on the condition that the Senate vote on the issue.
“It’s critical that we come to the table and find a bipartisan path to extend enhanced tax credits,” said Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), one of the eight.
But Wednesday’s Senate Finance Committee hearing on affordable health care suggested limited prospects for a bipartisan deal.

HA, your “forward thinking” has never produced an accurate prediction, yet here we go again. Don’t you ever get tired of being wrong? I’d be embarrassed.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
The metaphysics of time is a rich and complex field that encompasses a wide range of philosophical debates and physical theories. From the nature of time's existence and its relationship with change and motion, to the implications of relativity and modern physics, our understanding of time continues to evolve.
VERY LONG READ,HOWEVER IT IS GERMAINE TO THIS POST......U BELIEVE I AM BLOWING SMOKE, WHERE SCIENCE INDICATES THERE R VARIATIONS WITHIN THE TIME CONTINUUM,
JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING HAS NOT OCCURRED YET , DOES NOT MEAN IT IS INVALID.....
THE DEPTH OF OUR UNDERSTANDING OF TIME IS EVOLVING....i HAPPEN TO VIEW IT FROM A METAPHYSICAL LEVEL...MEANING AN OPEN ENDED PARADIGM .....I TRIED TO VISUAL SHOW THIS TO U WITHIN A PAST POST......
Major employers in industries like homebuilding and restaurants are looking shaky, and they offer ominous signs about the direction of the overall economy. By getting a sense of what sectors and industries are struggling, you can get a forward-looking sense of the economy's trajectory and a clearer-eyed view of the possibility of recession.
The problem with relying on broad bundles of data is that things typically appear placid on an aggregate level right up until things go wrong. Take the turning of the job market tide. In a genuine downturn, the consensus typically assumes a gradual, linear increase in unemployment, similar to the slow, steady grind we are currently experiencing. In reality, however, the risk is nonlinear. When things truly turn south, it usually comes as an abrupt shift that results in a negative self-reinforcing feedback loop. Instead of a slow increase in the unemployment rate of 0.1 percentage points a month, you begin to see a jump of 0.2 points one month and another 0.3 points the next. The ranks of the jobless swell at an ever-increasing pace. There is no real way of knowing when labor market conditions will transition from linear to nonlinear. Historically, the consensus never sees the shift until well after it has arrived. That things seem to be evolving in a stable fashion now doesn't negate the possibility of an unstable move later.
AGAIN....TIME/TIMING IS BEING UNDERESTIMATED.....NJMO,BUT A CREDIBLE SOURCE JUST
REITERATED WHAT i HAVE POSTED.....NOTHING GOES AS EXPECTED....AND MACRO THINKING
IS MANDATORY....BUT OH, I AM FULL OF SHIT.
For five years we have run an overheated economy creating massive debt, throwing money around like drunken sailors. Home prices have doubled in my areas, it is way past time to slow the spending.
The stock market is starting to re-assess. Cryptocurrencies are losing their luster and decline. Americans are actually starting to stay within their budgets.
