The price Venezuela will pay to lift the sanctions will be elections that will have independent observers from the same 60+ countries that refused to recognize Maduro as the duly elected leader of Venezuela.

Good thing to hold over their head...except sanctions never stopped Castro, Hussein, or Putin. Just impoverishes innocent people in those countries.

We have a different president now… one that actually solves problems instead of kicking them to the next guy. “TACO” didn’t age well.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Might For Right?

Does America have a duty to help those struggling under the rule of NarcoStates like Venezuela and Theocracies like Iran? Or should we stand down and let those innocents suffer?

Or even worse, flood their economies with taxpayer dollars that eventually wind up in the leaders Swiss bank accounts like President Biden did in Ukraine.

Collectivists just love to remove a single line from all context in support of their irrational allegations.

I'm sure that there will be US involvement in Venezuela for quite a long period of time. We have the means to support that country in their efforts to use their natural resources to raise their standard of living. And yes, to preserve our own security, the US has to be the influential power in this hemisphere, that's been the unchanged doctrine of these United States since 1823. We want a prosperous Venezuela to exist with our help, it is in our best interests to ensure that happens, which means a long term investment into that country to keep out less desirable influencers.

Trump doesn't want to rule Venezuela, he just doesn't want Russia, or Iran, or some other entity hostile to these United States from making Venezuela a puppet state within their sphere of influence. Such situations result in scenarios like the Cuban Missile Crisis. We can all agree we don't want a repeat of something like that happening because we refused to ensure the Americas were within our sphere of influence, can't we?

Exactly! The Left is more worried about the US looking imperialist that they don't notice how Cuba, China, and Russia are slowly taking over Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

China is offering loans to the regions like loansharks. And they want their money back! They are a little nicer after you grant them drilling and mining concessions.

Nature abhors a vacuum.

If Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba all fall in January, Russia and China feel increasingly isolated. And Moscow doesn't look very steady right now either.
