By mocking Denmark for adding “one more dog sled” to increase security in Greenland, Trump not only misinforms Americans – in 2025, Denmark allocated 44 billion DKK, equivalent to about 6 billion USD, to strengthen the Arctic and North Atlantic – he also mocks the national identity of Greenlanders. An identity that is inextricably linked to the unique Greenlandic history and culture, and is built on the harsh Greenlandic nature, where people have for centuries depended on dog sleds to survive.

For Greenlanders, Danes, Europeans and most other people, national security does not start with making deals and taking control of foreign countries. It starts with national identity: a way of living, thinking, feeling and adapting to a specific part of the world that is different from other parts of the world. And for which the people who identify with this way of living, thinking, feeling, and adapting are willing to fight and perhaps even die. National security is a means to protecting national identity. Not an end in itself. And so any leader who truly cares about national security, cares even more about national identity. After all, if there is no national identity to protect, why would you need natio

ANDTHIS,IS WHY ALLIANCES R BUILT AND WHY TRUMP IS CLEARLY NOT CONSCIOUS OF HIS INANE INSISTENCE THAT "I WANT IT"...
HE NEVER MATURED INTO A FULLY FORMED, INDIVIDUAL...HE STILL PLAYS IN SAND BOXES AND THROWS SAND...OUR PRESIDENT
THINKS HE IS "SPECIAL" AND SO ALL SHOULD JUST ACQUIESCE.....WAIT AND WATCH.

Every other European nation had to give up their colonies in the New World except French Guiana and Denmark's Greenland.

Why are you still supporting Danish imperialism HA? It is long past time for the Inuit to rule their own lands instead of a Danish royal in Copenhagen.

I really expected you to support Greenland's right of self rule.

i GUESS BECAUSE ALASKA RUNS DEEP IN ME......ALTHO WE R PART OF THE OFFICIAL STATES,WE IDENTIFY THE CONTINENTAL USA AS "":OUTSIDE:"" OR THE LOWER 48, WE DO NOT LIVE IN A FORGIVING ENVIRONMENT, WE SEE THE WEAKNESS OR LACK OF WILL POWER IN THE 'OUTSIDE' AND SHAKE OUR HEADS AT HOW SOMEONE COULD LIVE THAT WAY....JUST OUTSIDE OF TALKETNA ...U R IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY,NO ONE FROM THE OUTSIDE UNDERSTANDS THAT......IT'S AN ALASKAN THING, U WON'T UNDERSTAND......SELF RELIANCE,
GUTS TO PIT YOURSELF AGAINST NATURE AND KNOW U MAY BE KICKED IN THE BUTT,BUT DO IT ANYWAY....THE IDITAROD IS THE IDEAL EXAMPLE OF THAT.....ANCHORAGE/WASILLA R VERY MODERN AND WAY TOO CROWDED, OUR STATE'S CAPITAL IS JUNEAU, BUT ANCHORAGE IS
WHERE EVERYONE MIGRATES TO. ....SO-O-O, I GUESS WHAT I AM SAYING IS QUALITY
OF LIFE AND FORWARD THINKING IS WHY ALASKA REMAINS APART,ALTHO WE R THE 49TH STATE

If you don’t currently live in Alaska, you are no more an Alaskan than I am. I love the state as you do, but Alaskans stay in Alaska and those that can’t cut it move south.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Good for him, sounds like a guy I would hang out with. But I was speaking about you and the word “ we” when talking about Alaskans. I lived on Kodiak for the better part of 5 years, 40 years ago. I’ll never consider myself to be an Alaskan, even if my entire family lived there. That was my point.

Denmark and Greenland have requested a meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Maybe they will work out a rare metals and new expanded base treaty?

Should America leave NATO in exchange for getting Greenland's freedom for the Danish crown?

JUST AS A INTERESTING FACT.....AS U POINTED OUT, KODIAK IS RATHER MILD WEATHER......IT SITS AT A SOUTHERN LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE ACROSS THE GULF OF ALASKA FROM SITKA,
SO-O ANCHORAGE IS MUCH FURTHER NORTH IN LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE AND FAIRBANKS IS INSIDE THE NORTH POLE...LATITUDE ,LONGITUDE ......THE WEATHER FACTOR IS FAR DIFFERENT. i LIVED IN ANCHORAGE IN 1955,BEFORE IT WAS A STATE....HUGE SNOWFALL WAS NOT UNCOMMON AND THE RONDEY AND THE IDITAROD WERE CELEBRATED DOWN TOWN,SNOW WAS NOT TRUCKED INTO THE STREETS FOR THE START OF IDIATROD,,THAT IS
THE ORIGINAL START POINT...THEY HAVE CONTINUED TO MOVE THE START POINT BECAUSE LACK OF SNOW IN ANCHORAGE, i WENT TO WEST ANCHORAGE H.S. UNTIL MY JR. YEAR,WE MOVED TO FAIRBANKS JUST BEFORE THE EARTHQUAKE IN 64...i GRADUATED LATHROP H.S.,
IN 65....THAT'S 10 YEARS (THE FIRST TIME TO ALASKA)...BY THE WAY,HEAD BOLT HEADERS
WERE A NECESSITY IN fAIRBANKS, .....WHERE EVER U WENT ,U CONNECT UP THE ENGINE
BECAUSE AT NEGATIVE 54, IT FREEZES..

BACK THEN, WEARING SKIRTS AND SWEATERS A NYLON STOCKINGS WAS THE TREND IN H.S.
ONE MORNING i WAS WAITING FOR THE SCHOOL BUS,MY PARKA AND BOOTS ON, WITH THE ABOVE ATTIRE.....BECAUSE THE TEMPS WERE IN THE NEGATIVE 40'S, ICE FOG WAS COMMON,
U COULD HEAR THE CRUNCH OF THE TIRES OF THE BUS,BUT IT WOULD BE 5 OR 10 MINUTES BEFORE IT ARRIVED.....I GOT IN,SAT DOWN AND WITHIN A MINUTE OR SO FELT SOMETHING WARM ON MY LEG...I LOOKED DOWN AND MY NYLONS HAD FROZEN TO MY LEG AND PULLED A SMALL SPOT OF SKIN OFF.LEAVING SOME BLOOD.

U LEARN IN GRADE SCHOOL,NEVER RUN IN THE WINTER,U WILL FREEZE YOUR LUNGS.,LET SEE, I THINK MY EXPERIENCE JUST MIGHT BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN YOURS.

2ND TIME IN ALASKA WAS IN 1998 THRU 2001,WE LIVED IN WASILLA,,WHEN U LIVE AT 62 DEGREES OR SO OF LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE (fAIRBANKS)....THE WINTERS R VERY DARK AND LONG...SUNRISE ABOUT 10, SUNSET ABOUT 2 OR 3PM....BUT THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE FOR THE SUMMER...THAT IS WHY ALL CONSTRUCTION WORK OR GOV. WORK GETS DONE IN A MATTER OF WEEKS INSTEAD OF MONTHS.....CDOT HERE IS SUCH A JOKE...MY BROTHER JUST IS ASTOUNDED AT THE LACK OF SUPERVISION AND PLANNING....(THERE'S THAT GET HER DONE THING THAT IS A MIDSET)

ALL AND ALL MY TIME IN aLASKA IS ALMOST TRIPLE YOURS....AND NORTH IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT ANIMAL THAN SOUTHERN ALASKA.......I WAS NOT INTENDING THIS TO BE A PISSING MATCH,BUT i CONSIDER MYSELF AN aLASKAN ....I JUST HAPPENED TO BE A COLRADO

(TEST...DO U KNOW WHAT AN OOSIC IS? OR BALEEN?)

Anchorage? :snowfalling :happysnow:
You were living in the Banana Belt!

Try Fairbanks! The interior is where real winter resides. No Japan Current to warm things up.

Juneau can be warmer too, but right now they are getting pounded with snow. Boats are sinking in the marina because the snow is that heavy.
