Chinese Purges Under Xi?

Still need more information but it appears that there was an attempted coup after Xi has been quietly purging generals mainly from his navy and rocket forces.

The coup might have been an attempt to kill Xi before he killed them.

This should take some pressure off Taiwan. Xi still wants to take them over, but it looks like a military takeover after a military purge would be much more difficult.

And now Xi has to spend more time watching his back!

They claim some 3,000 coup members and their family members have been arrested so far.

Xi might also have noticed how corruption in the Russian military had reduced the effectiveness of his military. His generals would sell the fuel and other supplies they received for units to the black market and buy themselves luxury homes and vehicles. Some Russian units even had only 50% of the personnel required. The other money went to ghost soldiers and the general's Swiss bank accounts.

Xi is claiming these generals are promoting officers to high ranks. The officers then give the generals a portion of their new pay.

They are trying to say these purges are only a few souls, but if underlings start to feel they will be all eliminated too, they might attempt a coup themselves. Many coups start with lower ranking officers.
