Remembered when earmarks were banned?

They are back and bigger than ever. 40 trillion will soon be 45 trillion. Those Somalis need their Larning Centers! The Taliban need their monthly money transfers.

Presuming the new budget comes in somewhere around $4 Trillion, those earmarks account for somewhere around one third of one percent of the federal budget (0.0035). At an annual budget of $6 Trillion, it's roughly a quarter of 1 percent of the budget (0.0024).

Kinda tough to equate that to a "blowout" . . .

The blowout is the budget deficit continuing to rise, continuing to spend 33% more than they take in.

PS: sure fraud is still happening, but it is negligible so we should just ignore it, right?

Ten trillion has to be refinanced next year. One third.

Who will buy it?
What interest rate will attract ten trillion dollars?
