I. am amused by HA's comments regarding what will happen to our progeny. Thank you for thinking about my grandchildren. Rest assured they will be find. NASA's project Artemis II is great p.r. for the US. SpaceX is doing the heavy hauling. They will cooperate in the next 2 years hopefully an administration after President Trump will continue the relationship.
Do not forget that under democrat, LBJ's, administration shut down the space program in order to to further the welfare state in the U.S.

Netflix will air the Moon flyby today. Imagine when Elon Musk brings his super sized rocket up there. :cheersbeer:

Then there's the debt spiral... thinking there will be any sort of significant colonization of other planets is silly imo. Who is going to fund it? per Rick

other planets? u used a plural....I stated ONE...and when the earth is no longer viable for human existence..the money will be found, because it will mean the extinction of our species,u r not looking at the reality of just how "trashed" Gaia is ...RIGHT NOW...by 2050,if we continue along the same path, transport
will be the singular option available. u believe that to be science fiction, when ,in fact, scientists, astro guru. ,biologist, anthropologists, agricultural experts have been issuing dire warnings for at least 5 years.
NO ONE BELIEVES. LOOK DOWN THE ROAD, INSTEAD OF WHAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF U.

EXAMPLE...THE LOWER BASIN STATES R SCREWED,WATER IS AT A HISTORICAL LOW AND MEAN AND POWELL R JUST INCHES AWAY FROM SHUTTING DOWN....THEY R CONVENING A
URGENT CONSORTIUM TO ADDRESS HOW WATER WILL BE DISTRIBUTED. .IF MEAN AND POWELL CAN;T GENERATE ELECTRICITY,HOW DO U THINK THAT WILL LOOK? millions of people
will be screwed....it can happen, because water is a finite resource and golf courses and swimming pools
r a must,in some individuals eyes,...watering at 2 in the afternoon is insanity...it evaporates and does not get absorbed into the first inch of ground. BUT THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING...LOOK AROUND
AND ACTUALLY OBSERVE WHEN PEOPLE R WATERING THEIR LAWNS...THERE IS NOT ENOUGH WATER TO PLAY LOSSEY GOOSEY WITH THIS LIQUID GOLD....yes i am shouting, because it is at a mass critical point. wake up

HA2, We have a few years to go before Gaia looses all of our life's blood.

AI Overview
Earth loses a negligible amount of water to space, estimated at approximately 9,000 to 10,000 tonnes annually. This loss occurs primarily because UV radiation breaks down water molecules in the upper atmosphere into hydrogen, which escapes into space. This is tiny compared to the

tonnes of water on Earth.

How Water Leaves: The Earth loses roughly 3 kilograms of hydrogen per second.
Negligible Impact: At current rates, it would take roughly a trillion years for Earth to lose all its water.
Water Cycle Balance: While large amounts of water move between oceans, land, and atmosphere (440 trillion tons annually), this is a cycle, not a loss to space.
Replacement: Earth also gains a marginal amount of water from meteors, but the loss from the atmosphere is greater.

The total water vapor in the atmosphere remains largely in balance, with evaporation roughly equalling precipitation, keeping the planet's water supply stable.

So much silly nonsense in that post, I don’t have time to waste on pointing out every poorly thought out point. You think humans can and will destroy this earth and make it uninhabitable? People will die off because of the people who allow monsters to control the population.

But somehow, blasting a micro percentage of the population into space is going to save us? Lol, please. And btw, other than waste water we’ve dumped into space, the earth has the same amount of water it’s always had. We just need to be smart enough to use and store it. Don’t look to places like CA to understand how that works.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Our Pilgrim ancestors came here in 1620. They were funded by investors. 50% died in the first couple years.

Now the state of Massachusetts is one of the richest in America. Those original Investors? No one cares if they made their money back.

Probably be the same story with the new lunar base and the eventual colony on Mars.

It is expensive, dangerous, and will not pay off for decades, but this is what Americans do. We explore, adapt, and win.
