I’m glad I opted to toss my finance degree in the “do not need” bin and got into the trades and create my own jobs. Even if I could replace my restaurant employees with robots, I wouldn’t.

WSJ had a piece today showing that despite declining employment numbers, productivity keeps rising. Seems employers are getting rid of their most unproductive and needy employees and replacing them with robots machines, and AI.
Service industry? Smart to keep people around. Without the social contact, it is much cheaper to stay home, drink a beer, and make a grilled cheese. People go out to meet a smiling face, chat, and hang out at the bar.

Absolutely. I've got single retired guys coming in regularly who are living on SS and driving beat up cars, but they enjoy hanging out at the bar, even if they can't afford it. These are the people I comp drinks and food for, more than anyone else.
Robots delivering food would end my business.
