People that rent have to rent from owners that have to pass on the tax and inflation increases. So IMO renters are not saving anything over a owner.
The real wrench thrown in all this extra tax revenue is that as more and more places are condemned or taken over by the tax collectors, that only decreases the revenue collected which makes them think that they need to raise the taxes more.
I just Hope that some day we fix the spending instead of increasing the taking.
Unfortunately, the voters are not picking people to represent them because of spending cut promises, so it’s not a surprise that we rarely see spending cuts.

Tracks with my recent experiences. Between property tax increases and insurance premium increases my mortgage is nearly 150% of what it was 4 short years ago. Never have I seen such a phenomena where government actions and policies might end up being directly responsible for mortgage failures.

Except when Democrats thought it would be a good idea that everyone with a pulse should be able to own a home, whether they could afford to pay the mortgage and upkeep or not. Since the end goal is for citizens to own nothing (and be happy)… it seems like the revolution is moving forward nicely.

That was actually a bipartisan decision. Push everyone into buying homes, have mortgage companies approve shady loans and then sell them to the government. Subsidize mortgages for H1B employees and illegal immigrants and then act confused when housing prices go crazy.

There are only 2 reasons for an increase, 1. increased appraisal, 2. increased mill rate. In Park county appraisals sky-rocketed due to the house prices that people paid during Covid. I am pretty sure that Park County did not raise the millage rate.
If anyone is to blame, and I am aware of their position, it is the buyers who paid prices. much higher than the value of the property. Then when the appraisers came along they look at comparable that were extremely elevated and then said this is why we will appraise your property at.
