On the horizon is something that will sample your breath before the car turns on, unobtrusively, of course, whether or not you've ever had a DUI or DWAI on your record, again, for safety. If they can stop a drunk driver from ever getting on the road, why, that's better for all of us, yes?

Don't forget about the kill switch that could be activated if you have a warrant out for your arrest, the camera catches you speeding too far above the posted limit, you haven't paid your taxes, or don't have a valid registration or insurance. That'll keep us safer too, right?

My next vehicle is going to be pre-1984 . . . or maybe I can convince investors that there's money to be made with an aftermarket Faraday cage . . .

Classic cars will see a massive rebound I hope. Plan to keep my 2022 forever, but even that one has an app that tells me where my car is in case it is stolen.

Let's at least be honest enough to admit the addition of the kill switch was conceived by the manufacturers so they could disable the car if you didn't pay the loan . . . and like all bad ideas, it will be adopted by the government for their own nefarious reasons.

I don't have much faith that they will leave anything alone. Classic cars are all ready a target that must be eliminated.

A used car dealership years ago installed kill switches on vehicles where the loans became delinquent. They got into a lot of trouble for this because cars would stall on freeways causing accidents.

Yeah, but now we have the GPS monitoring to accentuate the process so that it will only disable a vehicle which isn't moving, so that annoyance is no longer included in the equation.
