In the late 80's, I was applying for a broker job. They asked me if I was married, I told them no, but I was getting married in September. But curious, I asked why did it matter? They say married men work harder because they have a family to support. Single guys tend to take off the rest of the month after getting a big client.
They also encouraged their brokers to buy homes, boats, and vacation homes. They wanted you hustling all month long. Earning the rent on that office.

I had the same thoughts about married men when hiring for our business. Married with children, a home with a mortgage. These factors were certainly taken into consideration.
The results speak for themselves.
couple of things....1. sick time off, because of the children and dr. appts.,the WOMAN is the primary role in this scenario. THE MAN continues to work, because the woman is at home and is responsible for problems. (even if she works, she is STILL THE ONE TAKING THE CHILDREN TO THE DR.)
2. MARRIED men r viewed as the 70 hour a week asset....they do not have many responsibilities in the day to day scenario of everyday living...thus they r more likely to spend more time on the job, expectations of output increased.
3. it is a given, the women make 77 cents on the dollar, parity has not been achieved.
4. DOUBLE DUTY is expected from women, bring home a paycheck AND take care of the house, children and most chores
Do these numbers turn around since now the majority of college graduates are women?
The husband stays home to take care of the children because she is earning more an hour?
Or does the blue collar husband go to work because his white collar wife has better vacation benefits?
Or will white collar college graduates be replaced by AI and they will be unable to repay their loans? And the blue collar men still have work and no loans to repay.

I would have never gotten married to my wife if her aspirations were to work outside the home while also being a mother. IMO, if a man and a woman want to get married and have kids, the man better have a good enough job to support the family while the woman has the equality important job of taking care of the home and kids.
Our 3 adult children are now all very successful with families of their own without any kind of government assistance or the need to have outsiders raise their kids.
As the breadwinner of my family, I also did all the yard work, appliance repair, remodeling, and everything else my wife didn’t do around the house. I worked 60-80 hours a week as an independent car dealer. Does that count as “double duty”?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
In agreement with your concept.....the major problem is a societal situation...IF THE WOMAN/MAN aspire to have the latest and greatest, I phone, vehicle, the latest tek gadget, want to travel overseas, have a swimming pool,or the latest RV,ATV...THEN your paradigm changes drastically. TWO incomes r required to keep u with the Jones. consumerism is the culprit JMO
