Read an article online yesterday about some hikers who used AI to plan their route to climb a 14k mountain in California and figure out what supplies were needed and how much time it would take . . . yeppers, they had to be rescued and spent a night at about 11k without water, food, or any shelter at all.
Moral of the story . . . AI isn't a good substitute for knowledge and experience in the natural world.
Like most technology, AI will improve and get more intelligent and come down in price, but I am worried about which sources they are getting their information from. Reddit? Radicals? Humans with stronger opinions than actual experience.

I think the problem in this instance was AI using averages and the "hikers" probably overestimated their skills . . . which was why they were likely using AI in the first place, they didn't have any.
The way I see it, I may as well use the hell out of AI, until it kills me of course.
I quit the automotive repair industry 4 years ago, and I have no more tepaie manual subscriptions, but I’m still fixing friends, family, and my cars when I have time.
Turns out, AI has been dead on with everything when it comes to deciphering codes and combing those codes with the symptoms. So much quicker and I don’t have to pay $500+ for Alldata and Identifix… not sure how those companies will survive.
As for AI killing us… I’m thinking my remote location will give me some time to prepare as the cities devolve into hellscapes.

Bernie Sanders and his ilk are Luddites. The people who try to destroy and ban looms in order to save the home industry of spinning wool.
I believe most democrats will say anything to get elected. Look at all the walk backs by Talerico, Abdul, and others. John Fetterman (D-PA) senator is probably the only democrat who says what he believes.
AI is a tool, nothing more nothing less. It is not HAL from the movie 2001. AI is revolutionizing the automotive industry from designing to building to driving. I happened to see a Youtube video of a 98 y.o. man in a Tesla model Y with fully automated drive. He sat behind the wheel, told the vehicle where tp go and off it went without him ever touching the wheel.
This will allow me to stay in the mountains for a much longer period of time. Imagine all those doctor appointments, no need to impose on a friend or neighbor, wanting to go to dinner down the hill, no problem.
Don't let the dems screw it up.
I think it will have both good sides and bad sides. Frees up humans of many mundane tasks like driving and low level data collection but I am also worried it might cause human brains to atrophy.
Great point about the looms. I know a man who agrees with Sanders, he wants back elevator operators, no more self service checkouts, and full service gas stations. Sad.
