Rally To Restore Sanity and the March To Keep Fear Alive

For a change, we were actually watching the Daily Show live last night, and Jon finally made his announcement: A March on Washington! To which Stephen Colbert promptly retaliated with his own!
On 10.30.10 it's a Million Moderate March on D.C.! Sounds like fun - anyone up for a road trip?

Stephen Colbert:

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

"They want to replace our fear with reason, but never forget 'reason' is just one letter away from 'treason.'"

It would be more funny if it weren't true...

I'm about to the point where I might take the opportunity to go... But I would be torn whether to attend the "Rally To Restore Sanity" or the "Rally To Keep Fear Alive"!

rofllol

The opportunity to take on the insanity of the Glenn Beck loonies is almost too much to pass up.

It's going to be interesting, to see how many people actually show up, spurred on by two political comedians.

Stewart was on Oprah the other day talking about it.

Jon says he wants the event to highlight what he calls the "busy majority"—those who don't care about the partisan ideological battles that drive 24-hour news channels. "Seventy to 80 percent of the people in this country are reasonable, nice individuals, may disagree on principle on things, but could come up with rational compromises, could accomplish things, could get things done, could live with the results. And then the other 15 to 20 percent of the country run the place," Jon says. "People don't have time to take sides and to shout. 'Crazy' gets on television, but 'normal' has to make dinner."

Jon says he knows the rally won't actually solve anything but hopes it offers an alternative to the angry Americans typically seen on cable news channels. "They're scaring the hell out of everybody. This country is not a fragile country. Look how far we've come. We have had our issues. We had a Civil War. We had slavery. Now we're arguing about whether or not Glenn Beck is too hyperbolic?" he says. "We've come a long way."

I suppose if they wanted to lampoon the Tea Party with the "Keep Fear Alive" gathering they could show up with political signs that are spelled correctly.

I am still trying to figure out what any of those signs have to do with our economy, or jobs of bringing this country back together? In fact some of them, (of course, becaue they are from Democrats) are just made to keep racism alive. Why a sign about white sheets with the KKK inference? And why a sign makeing fun of a teenager who got pregnant? And signs about sex, (looking for cougars). How sad is this group? This makes me all the more roud to be a Tea Party Republican.

That Glenn Beck rally talked about what this nation was founded on. God and unity. And it was all about bringing this nation back together. This rally totally shows the difference in the idealism of the parties. The Dems want to keep dividing and making fun of people and keep rasism alive and they don't want to talk about the real issues of this country. They don't take anything serious and just 3 days before the election, they want to make fun of where this nation is at. I will bet if people watch the childishness of this rally they will leave the Democratic party in droves. And right before the election. Keep it up guys! :woo hoo: Obama and the Dems are the best campaigners for the Republican Party!!!

This reminds me of a funny National Lampoon made movie where you don't take anyone who speaks or goes there serious. And the people they get speaking for their parties are comedians and satirists. The best they can find is even a Satirist to speak in front of congress agout illegal immigration today. The Democrats don't take anything serious other than keeping the nation divided both with parties and with race. The are becoming a very dangerous party for this nation.
