The Washington Post reports the NRA's policy in recent years is to support incumbents when their positions on gun rights are similar to the NRA's and their challengers.
I can't access which candidates they've endorsed, which I am curious about, so I can't verify that this number is accurate. So would this be the result of good PR by Democratic candidates, or an outdated policy by the NRA? Does the NRA not sense the anti-incumbency mood of the country, or not care? I'm curious as to your thoughts?
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
The NRA uses a rating system based on votes that affect gun rights. They are not tied to any party, so its all about how candidates vote for or against laws on gun rights.
The NRA endorses a number of Democrats every year so that they don't appear to be affiliated with the Republican Party. Sen Harry Reid (D) of Nevada is one, Betsy Markey (D) of Colorado is another.
Same with the Denver Post, they will endorse all Democrats except for a few token Republicans, usually those in races the Dems can't win. (They once even endorsed Tom Tancredo.)
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I'd have to look it up, but Nevada has no reciprocity with any other state on concealed handgun permits. However, they are an open carry state except for North Las Vegas and Boulder City. So any backing of Reid is probably a result of these laws. As to the statement that "they don't appear to be affiliated", there are many gun supporting liberals and Democrats.

So if I had a CC permit and I owned a hand gun, I couldn't carry while crossing Nevada? :Whistle
The only booming business in North Las Vegas is drugs and the sound of rival gang gunfire. Don't confuse Las Vegas with the before mentioned. To check reciprocity, use the Jeffco Sheriff page under concealed carry, there is a state by state list of those that accept the Colorado concealed handgun permit. Notice the majority of states that don't are on the coasts or near the socialist stronghold of Chicago.
