The federal Bureau of Prisons estimates the prison in Berlin will contribute about $38 million annually to the economy.

Cool. Then as we put more and more people in prison, our economy will grow...... And more people will get off the streets and have room and board. I love it when governmental programs contribute money (tens of millions) to our economy. :wink:

Prisons remain one of the growth industries in this nation as sentences get longer and 3 strikes continues.

I visited the old women's prison in Canon City and was surprised to see how short sentences were in the 1880's. 5 years for murder was typical. Now they hand out life sentences like candy.
