That's right, every other modern developed nation in the world has gotten rid of birthright citizenship policies. Yet, most of U.S. news media and politicians the last two weeks have ridiculed the comments by some other politicians that it is time for the U.S. to put an end to birthright citizenship for tourists and illegal aliens.

Folks, the U.S. stands alone.


Where are you getting your information? Please don't tell me it's from a email. But from what I could find by simple Bing searches, your information is not correct no matter how much you want it to be.

It's called jus soli.... the right of citizenship by being born on foreign soil, the United States being the largest practitioner.

The 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution reads, in pertinent part, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

It sounds like you have a problem with the 14th Amendment, which was put into place during the Civil War and Reconstruction.

An interesting side note: Most European countries follow the principle of Jus sanguinis ... by blood. In general, citizenship is conferred by birth to a parent who is already a citizen of that country,

But the Europeans don't know how to do anything right, do they?

Yes... They "LOVE" the Constitution... but have problems with the 14th Amendment, the 17th Amendment, the 16th Amendment, and parts of the 1st Amendment... But outside of that, they LOVE it! For people that "love" the Constitution, they sure do want to change it.

Few people know the facts. This is not a reflection on the people, but rather that we are fed "the facts" (and history) by people/organizations/governments/media outlets, each with their own agenda/spin. WikiLeaks and Climategate are the tip of the iceberg. So, IMO everyone is clueless. :)

I agree DP. I've become very cynical regarding the news and so-called "fact sites". It's tough to filter it - too many scandals.
