Decisions Based On Reality

"reality rears its unattractive head, reminding us there are only three ways for us to dig out of the ever-deepening deficit hole that so threatens our future: Higher taxes, reduced spending or a combination of both.
It's an arithmetical reality that Democrats, Republicans, independents, socialists, libertarians, tea partiers and editorial boards must keep inmind"

How true! Excellent editorial from this morning's Austin American-Statesman (who, by-the-way leans to the left of center)

When are libs ever going to cotton on to the fact that the more you tax something the less you get of it. We need higher revenues, not higher taxes. Something that escapes the vast majority of the morons that the morons of the country elect. And the US doesn't have a lock on the moron factor.

bumper sticker - honk if you will pay my mortgage

"The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." attributed to Margaret Thatcher

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government." Thomas Jefferson

This way of thinking is wrong. Higher taxes will not help to get us out of this mess - because it will keep our economy from growing as it eats up every bit of overhead the economy creates. This is what most of the problem is today - government has grown little by little each year for the last 50 years, slowly eating away at American prosperity.

When oil went to $140/barrel - it only took a few months to tip it all over. The economy could not handle the energy price increase because government had grown so large. The domino effect is everything that has happened since.

Reducing spending is the ONLY way out - and if you really want to talk reality - we must face those facts. America and it's citizens must realign with the reality that we can not afford a government anywhere near the size we have now.

This is the only road back to American prosperity.
