Dear Omitted for Privacy:
Thank you for your inquiry about the Energy Impact Assistance Fund. Currently the program was suspended by the Governor in August 2010. Attached for your information is the letter the Governor issued as well as the notification the Department of Local Affairs issued to inform local governments about the suspension of the competitive grant program.
The Energy Impact Assistance Fund is very competitive. So when a local government applies to access the dollars when they are available, there is no guarantee that an applicant will be funded. The application is analyzed and the applicant presents their request to a Citizens Advisory Committee who make recommendations to the Executive Director of the Department who makes the final decision.
With regard to the Park County application, although they had applied the grant program has been suspended and it will not be reviewed or considered. If the Governor and the Colorado General Assembly authorize dollars for the Energy Impact Grant program, it would resume. However, at this time through at least the year 2011 the grant program is suspended.
Feel free to write or call me with any questions about the program or the department.
Tony
