If Washington did that today, you would have riots and a march on the White House. Americans get really irritable when they lose internet and cell phone access. lol
Probably one of the few things that would get Americans to riot these days, that and sport championships.

I'm thinking that if they shut off cell service, there'd be a bunch of people standing still staring blankly at their little screens wondering what they should do next. They'd be in too much of an internet and text deprived stupor to perform any destructive acts.

Good point! I had an old friend up to our place that doesn't have cell phone coverage and it was like he had OCD, checking his phone every 10 minutes habitually. And to make it funnier, he was one of the last people I know to get a cell, but addiction happened quickly with him. He would just stare at the screen.
