What surprises me here isn't that there is a lot of unhappiness below that figure but that above it there is almost no "additional" happiness dividend as income continues to rise.

I think there is some truth to that. Acquire a lot of stuff and headaches combined.

Money cannot buy happiness. But it can sure buy a better grade of misery!

Money, to me, is stored labor. Like anything else the security of having some excess adds to happiness. Accumulating material things for the sake of them would get old fast
