State Mandates Food Cops in Every Restaurant

I hope someone tells me that snopes debunks this.

"The most important task ahead, say proponents of the mandatory food safety initiative, is preventing patrons with food allergies from being poisoned or killed by their meals. The newly enlisted food protection managers will be responsible for personally serving every ‘special needs’ patron while teaching fellow servers and kitchen staff how to avoid contaminating plates with allergens.

“Restaurants are also encouraged to make simpler dishes by avoiding ingredients that hide allergens, like some mollusks and shellfish, barley and rye,” reports Boston’s WCVB-TV. “Currently, federal law does not require ‘minor’ allergens to be clearly listed on food labels.”

I just decided it wasn't worth it... It's much more fun to watch the multiple outrages-of-the-day... :Snooze

I used to fly on Southwest every week. Back in the day, they served a complimentary bag of peanuts. If I was lucky, I might even get two bags of them.

One time they didn't serve any peanuts and I asked why. I was told it was because there was a person on the plane allergic to peanuts, so they decided not to serve peanuts to anyone on the whole plane. It was kind of funny because the floor of the plane had peanuts all over it from previous flights. So go figure.

Anyway, now it's no more peanuts!

But if it just saves one person.....

Remember whenever Jesse Jackson admitted to spitting in white people's food whenever he was a food worker? That is what is so scary. Some unhappy member of an ethnic group blowing their nose in your salad, or spitting on your baked salmon. It happens every day.

To hell with the danger of peanuts.

I am missing the point, what is scary? Do you think black spit or black snot tastes worse that white or Indian spit or snot?

Side bar: that is why only ensigns would take a cup of coffee from the bosun mate of the watch. The phrase, rimming the cup comes to mind. I never took a java from any bosun, no matter what color he was.

Those with experience in both states (MA and CO), know that this does note bode well for CO, as CO tends to take everything that MA does to an entire new level, and in a way that always costs more and reduces rights/freedom.

I say again, MA liberals on the street are more conservative than CO conservatives. Not in the media, on the street, in what they actually need and want from govt.

This does sound like MA though, and CO in about 4-5 years, only CO will require Every employee to be certified....and videotaped.

watching CNN...looking like the Fed is looking to regulate salt like a drug, with max doses etc.

So all of you that justify all the things and freedoms we need to make illegal so that we can all be a little healthier and smarter can eat it. All your big govt, public school, mandated purchase of health insurance (which is far less socialistic than public school, orders of magnitude) and all the "fairness" we perpetuate means no more choices for you. No more prosperity, no more opportunity, no more jobs, no more rights, no more property, no more wealth. But don't worry, you can still stomp your feet, watch your neighbors suffer and ask for more from your govt so that your neighbors and esp your children will have no life.

Why is freedom such a non priority in every last aspect of our lives for most people....even the "right wing nuts" on this site want as many restrictions as the "left wing nuts" just different ones...but somehow we still want to watch movies of WWII soldier fighting for freedom, when we thumb our noses at those who dies with every new rule that will ruin their grandchildren's and great grandchildrens lives. Seems like the only thing everyone agrees on around here is that our choices should not be our own, we just differ on which choices should be made by govt, or church, or neighbors, just make sure it is not you making the decision about your rights, your money, your time, your land.

I am personally ashamed to be part of a society that has so little respect for my grandfather who died for them.

This has more to do with salt, or public school, or food managers. It is about all the baby steps you people let society take in order to restrict your rights, and then we have parties to celebrate it.

Freedom is no longer cool around here, there is always another option that 2011 Colorado, MA or US wants, We all want more of our neighbor's money and we are willing to give up just about every freedom for it?????

Back off of my rights, take care of yourself people. Stop taking public assistance if you want something, pay for your own dam kids, health care and work harder, downsize your life and your govt. (tell them salt is your choice and your restaurant cannot afford food cops) and stop mooching off others (taking public assistance, ask your parents or friends for help before unemployement). Have some freaking pride. Stop having kids you cannot support (if you cannot pay for their ed (inc. k-12), you cannot support them fyi, you are expecting the rest of us to do it).
