Obama Egypt Plan Includes Role for Muslim Brotherhood

The Obama administration is secretly crafting a plan for Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to leave office immediately – a plan that includes a place for the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood to be in an interim government, The New York Times reported Thursday night.

The paper detailed a process in which administration officials are discussing with Egyptian officials the exit strategy. A transitional government would be headed by Vice President Omar Suleiman with the support of the Egyptian military, administration officials and Arab diplomats told the Times Thursday.

But so far Mubarak has balked. Still, officials are pushing the plan in discussions with Suleiman, backed by Sami Enan, chief of the Egyptian armed forces, and Field Marshal Mohamed Tantawi, the Defense Minister.

More importantly, though, the proposal calls for the transitional government to invite members from the banned Muslim Brotherhood to begin work to open up the country’s electoral system in an effort to bring about free and fair elections in September, the officials told the Times.

Oh no, Obama wouldn't work to help the Muslim Extremists, would he? He couldn't possibly want to help them take over the world and install Sharia Law everywhere, could he?

Only makes sense for the Muslim Brotherhood to be involved, they are the most organized opposistion to Mubarak despite years of persecution.
If the MB get power, I would expect them to be corrupted by the US aid. They may proclaim they hate Israel, but losing more than one billion dollars a year say they will be all talk and no action. (Plus Isreal has nukes.)
See today's news? More attacks on the press from Hosni's goons, including burning the Al Jazeera offices. How soon before they shut down media access to Egypt?

It is surprising the press had access this long because it undermines the mentality, if it is not reported it never happened. It is hard to say how the MB will react. Egypt as a whole is a pretty progressive Islamic country. Fundamental Islamic practices would not go over very well with the people.

You wonder who is advising Obama on ME policy and if he is taking that advice.

As the Obama adminstration contemplates its next move, all of America knows that given his and Hillary Clinton's past efforts, they will only further solidify the ranks of the Muslim Brotherhood, or any other Pro-Radical Muslim Pseudo-Organization.

So far, every effort of Obama pertaining to the Middle-East, has endowed the anti-American Muslim population to gain credible participation in government. Obama is either a very calculated participant in this endeavor, or he is an obvious and coherently ignorant, unwitting principle charachter in the furuture of the Mid-East Islamic world.
