California Wants Lesbians as Mandatory ‘Role’ Models

Lawmakers in the state of California are proposing a law that would require schools to portray lesbians, homosexuals, transsexuals and those who have chosen other alternative sexual lifestyles as positive role models to children in all public schools there.

“SB 48: The worst school sexual indoctrination ever” is how officials withthe Campaign for Children and Families describe the proposal,SB 48,sponsored by state Sen. Mark Leno. Openly homosexual, Leno boasts on his website of founding a business with his “life partner, Douglas Jackson,” who later died of AIDS complications.

That description as “worst” is considerable, considering the Campaign for Children and Families was a key player in the battle in the state in 2007 and 2008 over a variety of laws that now forbid any “adverse” portrayal of those alternative sexual choices in school, class, curriculum and by teachers.

FAIR Education Act
Bill Number: SB 48
The Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful (FAIR) Education Act would amend the Education Code to include social sciences instruction on the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. This bill would also prohibit discriminatory instruction and discriminatory materials from being adopted by the State Board of Education.

Openly gay state Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, introduced a bill today that would require public school materials to include the historical contributions of gay people as a way to fight bullying.

Leno's Senate Bill 48 is similar to a proposal that was approved by the Legislature in 2006 but vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"Most textbooks don't include any historical information about the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) movement, which has great significance to both California and U.S. history," Leno said in a press release. Leno was recently named to prominent leadership as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee.

Leno added: "Our collective silence on this issue perpetuates negative stereotypes of LGBT people and leads to increased bullying of young people."

"Given the number of young people who tragically took their own lives after being bullied for being LGBT - or perceived as being LGBT - it is imperative that we do more to ensure that all children feel fully welcomed, and this legislation is an important step toward that goal," said Geoff Kors, executive director of Equality California.

Frankly, I find it sad that our society feels compelled to introduce legislation for this, instead of people just practicing their Christian values, or even just decent civilized human behavior, and being tolerant, understanding, and non-judgmental. Why is that so hard?

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Frankly, I find it sad that our society feels compelled to introduce legislation for this, instead of people just wanting to send their kids to school for reading, writing, math, science and history. Or even just decent civilized human behavior like being tolerant of the fact that most parents don't want their children indoctrinated by lesbians, homosexuals, trans-gendered and the like. Why is that so hard?

Should tolerance only go one way trouble? Those who are lesbian, gay, whatever, should be tolerant of others wishes not to have them involved in education, but others do not need to be tolerant of their desire to hold these jobs?

Unfortunately, many people will NOT be tolerant unless there is a law stating they should be so.....same with equal rights, it took a constitutional amendment for Americans to treat minorities with respect and be tolerant. Too bad people seem to need to be told to be nice.

Let's reword this and tell me if your tolerance is extended??

Affirmative action will require a certain percentage of broken people (homosexuals) if they are legally recognized.

I like peach pie! Maybe this preference will get special privileges for my ilk.

It has nothing to do with being tolerant so they can hold their jobs...it's about indoctrination. You cannot legislate tolerance. You really think it took a constitutional amendment for Americans to treat minorities with respect and tolerance?? That's funny. So you're saying if that had not been in place then YOU would not be so nice??
