The Tripoli airport was overwhelmed,

And THIS was the a reason why American exceptionalism had to play second fiddle?

But wait, Obama and gang were busying themselves that day with the homosexuals. Got to keep those priorities straight!

So yes TM, I am embarassed by Obama. HE is the embarassment.

Just so that we're clear, I don't like Obama any more than I liked the shrub. It is difficult to talk about Obama as an embarrassment after 8 years of Bush though. The pictures of that "rickety" ferry don't look very much like second fiddle to me.

An apology of "I'm sorry. I was mistaken. It wasn't a third world rickety old ferry..." would be nice.

Instead, you do the very thing you've accused others of: deflect.

I'll give you that...it was a nice ferry. I was asked what I thought would have been a better evacuation for Americans. My response that I thougth it was ridiculous that a "busy airport" forced our military to use a ferry.

Because they had to wait 3 days for the weather to clear which lengthened the amount time Americans were in danger.

Several other countries also chose a ferry as the best way to get their citizens out of Libya, China and Russia being two of them.......you don't suppose they all know something you don't?

Our military did not use a ferry. The State Department chartered it. The captain of the ship (prolly not a US citizen) is responsible for the passengers and makes the call on when it is safe to leave port.

Thanks  .

Here's another one: Maybe if our military weren't busy being the worlds police force and involved in 2 useless wars we would have had some resources free to help out evacuate not just US citizens but those of many other nations like we usually do.

I don't even think our government should have been involved in "rescuing" people who put themselves in possible harms way by choosing to live in a country run by an obviously crazy dictator who we knew was responsible for the 1988 Pan Am bombing over Lockerbie.

They made stupid decisions and it should have been their responsibility to have an escape plan should things go south, as they did. Our government should not have been put in that situation to begin with.

People should take more responsibilities for their actions. But, Trouble, you sound as if you think it's the government's responsibility to play nanny for them and you're complaining because we weren't a good enough nanny.

They're lucky they got a ferry. And boo hoo, they had to wait three days.
