Spring Break party in Mexico? Texas officials advise no

So; if you were a parent of a college student or a student yourself would you be spring breaking in Mexico? I admit that as a college student and as a young Marine I partied often and vigorously in both Tijuana and Ensenada. But it’s now a different environment, Yes if you were stupid you could get rolled or maybe picked up by the local policia, today just being there can get you killed or kidnapped.

AUSTIN, Tex. (Reuters) - As college students prepare for the annual ritual of drunken Spring Break partying, Texas officials are urging them to stay away from Mexico.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw cited violence near the border and throughout the country.

"Drug violence has not discriminated -- innocent bystanders and people who may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time are among the casualties," McCraw said in a written statement on Tuesday. "Our safety message is simple: avoid traveling to Mexico during Spring Break and stay alive

Is it not amazing that PARENTS permit children to go to Mexico and other destinations to "come of age".......and young women are murdered or sold into prostitution as a result. THEN the parents whine and get the feds involved and we pay for their mistakes......amazing.

I am betting those college kids have to worry more about alcohol poisoning and VD than kidnappings and murder.
So much of this border crime has been going on for centuries, and the rates of violence haven't really changed, just the news is devoting more time to it.

It's far worse now than it's ever been. The border towns are the worst but the drug gang violence is everywhere including the resort towns.
