The Patriot Riders and other Veterans groups do a pretty good job of shielding the family and events from these lunatic. Reving of engines, making of human walls etc. We all do our best but they still get to run thier mouths.

They won't bet far with their challenges to restrictions, those have been pretty well hashed out in the courts already on other issues and are sitting on some pretty solid legal precedence. I say keep making them hire lawyers, it will deplete their traveling funds a lot quicker and keep these lunatics closer to home. The less they travel, the better off the rest of us are.

Open carry laws would go a long way towards ending this kind of crap.

I'm on my phone right now so it's not easy to link to the story, but NPR had a story yesterday or the day before that on the church and it's members. Apparently, it's almost all family and of Phelps' 13 kids, 11 have law degrees. They claim they accept no outside donations, nor need to, because they fund all of their activities from the lawsuits that they file and win. Nothing like keeping it in the family! They also mentioned that the community uses their law services, not necessarily because they want to because they are the biggest and best game in their town so they make a good living outside the church as well. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just that they won't be going bankrupt in court anytime soon. It was a short and interesting article, not a whole lot of info though. I'm sure a search would find it easily if you are curious to read it.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The more I read about this group, the more I side with Scalia. Wouldn't it be nice if the family could be put away for tax evasion or something similar?

Would any jury in the country convict a grieving family member for killing a couple of these assholes in a fit of temporary insanity?

Why can't they just close the private cemetery to all but invited guests during funerals, if requested?

Well, yeah, there's that if the cemetery is private, but I still like my solution better. Much more dramatic.
