An American Muslim's View -- Why Our Community Needs the King Hearings On Radical Islam

Representative Peter King’s (R-N.Y.) decision to hold hearings on American Muslim radicalization has presented an incredible opportunity to American Muslims.

The course of radicalization over the past two years makes it exceedingly difficult for anyone to assert with a straight face that America is immune to the global Muslim radicalization problem. American Muslims must take the lead in creating solutions to the radicalization of our own. These hearings will provide the long overdue platform for us to step away from the standard denials and apologetics in order to reclaim our Muslim identity from the terrorists and redefine ourselves within the framework of the American pantheon.

You always have an attack instead of an opinion. If you would actually read the opinion piece from this American Muslim, he admits that there is a definite problem with their image and says it is a good thing that King is holding these hearings. Maybe two things will happen: The American people will actually understand better what is happening in the world with the extremists, and secondly, maybe the Muslim people will stand up for what you think the True Face of Muslims should look like to us. Open your mind, for once, and look at the possibilities.

Perhaps they should also discuss the radicalization of people who bomb abortion clinics, assassinate doctors, leave bombs on benches at MLK-Day parades, and fly aircraft into IRS buildings?

There's really a ramping up of the "terrorism chatter" these days (not BY terrorists but ABOUT terrorists) in spite of the fact there hasn't been an attack on American soil in years. Wonder why?

Terrorism is growing around the world? I'm not so sure it is. Definitely it isn't in the U.S. And I don't say there is a PROBLEM with talking about it, but I would suggest there might be a REASON there is so much more talk about it lately.

Can't be a conservative unless you can be afraid of something...and whip up the rest of the sheeple into a frenzy as well.
