Libya: The Cost of a No-Fly Zone

by Fox News | March 18, 2011

According to new report by the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, three options for a No-Fly Zone over Libya would have three very different costs:

"Full No-Fly Zone" covering all of Libya

- $100 million to $300 million per week

- Initial strike to secure airspace: $500 million and $1 billion

- Six month total: $3.1 billion - $8.8 billion

- Similar to no-fly zone imposed over Iraq (Operation Northern and Southern Watch)

Limited No-Fly Zone focusing on the northern third of Libya

- $30 million to $100 million per week

- Initial strike to secure airspace: $400 million to $800 million

- Six month total $1.18 billion - $3.4 billion

Dummy:

It won't be much of a war but IMO we didn't need to be involved. Two weeks ago the UN seemed perfectly content with Libya on it's Human Rights Commission, then it passed a resolution for a No-Fly Zone and bingo, we have to follow the U.N.

Seems like Hypocrisy to me. We didn't get involved in Egypt and they are doing the same thing against the civilians in Yemen. We did nothing in Iran. What the heck is going on in Washington, D.C.?

We've heard over and over by almost every country on the globe that the US is not the world police...so what do we do, we get into another war. Why not let France and Germany handle this one?...France may even be able to claim a victory for once.

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

Maybe the USA will get out of the way when Libya's missile sites are reduced to rubble. Make it a little safer for France and the Brits to kick some arse.
