here's something disturbing

Looking for confirmation that this is fact, and not some typical bullcrap, but if it is real, I find it disturbing.

St. Paul, MN – Minnesota Republicans are pushing legislation that would make it a crime for people on public assistance to have more $20 in cash in their pockets any given month. This represents a change from their initial proposal, which banned them from having any money at all.

I'm very bothered by this - so anyone who "looks" poor could be stopped and made to empy their pockets at any given time? And if this passes there, it sets it up to pass elsewhere.

fact of the matter is, a lot of people up here "look" poor when they're dressed in jeans and T-shirts, or come straight from the barn to the grocery, or on their way home from any labor job - wouldn't this lead to harrssment? And what would it do to our police force, having to stop people all the time just to check the money they have in their pockets?

is there no limit?

Another result of system abuse. We are a very greedy country and those who deserve suffer because of those who abuse,

Once again, failure to pay attention, Trouble. This affects you here in Colorado because if it passes in one state, it will damn sure be put to the vote in other states. What goes on in the country, what goes on in the world, always has an effect on you in some form, even if you never see a direct effect. Example - new action in Lybia=more tax dollars spent on military=eventually more taxes on YOU.

In the meantime, I asked some people who I know live in Minnesota, and this is the bill - https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill. ... ssion=ls87

Not as bad as the article makes it seem, but still rather restrictive, since the people who are using the cards are only allowed to shop in certain stores. I get the need to curb spending by those with the EBT and similar cards on frivilous crap - those of us paying attention know about the cards being used in vacation spots and at ATMs near casinos for large amounts of cash that was supposed to be used on other things like food, utilities, etc. But its still very restrictive.

But but wait...what were you just lecturing me about in the PP post? Ahh...liberalism at it's finest...double standards.
