Is it just me, or is yours the only post in two pages that addresses the main point of the OP.

I think I addressed the original post twice on the first page, and once again on the second.

I think Nmysys changed the subject on the first page when he said...

Stop with the Liberal playbook and justify starting another war, especially without Congress' approval, after Obama diddled around for the first two weeks.

In one incident, which has been reconstructed based on documents from the investigation, the soldiers themselves detonate a hand grenade in order to make it look like they were the subjects of an attack before killing a man. One of those who allegedly participated, Adam Winfield, 21, described the incident to his father in a chat on the social networking site Facebook. "They made it look like the guy threw a grenade at them and mowed him down,". In a second incident on Feb. 22, 2010, one of the members of the "kill team" who had been carrying an old Russian Kalashnikov, fired it before pulling out another gun and shooting 22-year-old Afghan Marach Agha. In a third incident on May 2, 2010, it appears that a hand grenade attack was again staged before the shooting and killing of Mullah Allah Dad.

The 12 men are also facing further charges of desecration of corpses, illegal possession of photos of corpses, drug abuse and acts of bodily injury against comrades.

I don't seem to understand why some people think you need to be on the left or the right to be outraged about this. If the actions of theses soldiers does not upset you, than you are a lost cause or you really didn't read the whole article. Trying to spin this into a political issue is just in bad taste. IMO What they did, if true, is wrong and hopefully they will be punished for it. It is just ANOTHER reason for continued insurgent attacks and loss of support from the people we claim we are trying to liberate and protect.

:yeahthat:

I'm outraged as a human being... It has nothing to do with "Right" or "Left", no matter how much the neo-cons wish to make it so.

I only have one question. Why are we focusing on the few innocent civilians killed by a few bad elements in the military instead of the deaths of our servicemen/servicewomen who are in harms way? This is after all, now Obama's war. When it was Bush's war we heard daily of the loss of American lives. Just asking a simple question, not trying to deflect from what you have changed this into Photo.

Yea, I wonder how many times this outraged human being called the White House, the Obombo campaign HQ, and the Democrat Party HQ today, yesterday, this week?

You cannot equate sending a letter to "inform" Congress to be the same as "consulting" Congress as is required by the War Powers Resolution Act.

MB, not sure what you are referring to, I am not exactly the smartest whip in town but the way I read it, The President does not have to consult with congress as long as certain conditions are met, but he does have to inform them of his actions within 48 hours. I could be wrong, but that is what I read.

The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30 day withdrawal period, without an authorization of the use of military force or a declaration of war. The resolution was passed by two-thirds of Congress, overriding a presidential veto.
