Egypt Soldiers Tortured Female Protesters, Gave "Virginity Tests" Following Uprisings, Group Says

Egyptian soldiers tortured female protesters and administered forced “virginity tests” on them following demonstrations this month, a human rights organization reported.

The officers detained at least 18 women after clearing Tahrir Square of protesters on March 9 and took them to a Cairo Museum annex, where they were reportedly handcuffed, beaten with sticks and hoses, called prostitutes and some given electric shocks in the chest and legs, Amnesty International reported in a Wednesday press release.

Salwa Hosseini, 20, told the group the she and other women also were forced to remove all their clothes to be searched by a female prison guard, in a room with two open doors and a window while male soldiers looked in and took pictures.

Thousands of Christians Displaced in Ethiopia After Muslim Extremists Torch Churches, Homes

By Diane Macedo

Thousands of Christians have been forced to flee their homes in Western Ethiopia after Muslim extremists set fire to roughly 50 churches and dozens of Christian homes.

At least one Christian has been killed, many more have been injured and anywhere from 3,000 to 10,000 have been displaced in the attacks that began March 2 after a Christian in the community of Asendabo was accused of desecrating the Koran.

The violence escalated to the point that federal police forces sent to the area two weeks ago were initially overwhelmed by the mobs. Government spokesman Shimelis Kemal told Voice of America police reinforcements had since restored order and 130 suspects had been arrested and charged with instigating religious hatred and violence.

Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said the Islamist group Kawarja is believed to have incited the violence.

and to think that a few US soldiers made a few Iraqi combatants undress and form a pyramid was the outrage from the left. Oh, I think I understand....it's acceptable for Muslim countries to abuse women....because the left believes that love and inclusion.....

I think this incident is offensive and unacceptable. It appears that Muslims feel the same. Why is it you guys insist on crediting all the world's horrors to Islam?

The letter of protest was spearheaded by Aida Saif el Dawla, a veteran human rights activist and co-founder of the Nadim Centre for Psychological Therapy and Rehabilitation, and by Gamal Eid, the director of the Arab Network for Human Rights

It's a "war crime." (an explanation, not an excuse) - and doesn't have much, if anything to do with Islam.

Should I take activities in Guantanamo - and claim that detention center violence is a product of Christianity (there's more than a few Muslims who feel that way)?

"Top Vatican officials — including the future Pope Benedict XVI — did not defrock a priest who molested as many as 200 deaf boys, even though several American bishops repeatedly warned them that failure to act on the matter could embarrass the church, according to church files newly unearthed as part of a lawsuit. The internal correspondence from bishops in Wisconsin directly to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the future pope, shows that while church officials tussled over whether the priest should be dismissed, their highest priority was protecting the church from scandal. The documents emerge as Pope Benedict is facing other accusations that he and direct subordinates often did not alert civilian authorities or discipline priests involved in sexual abuse when he served as an archbishop in Germany and as the Vatican’s chief doctrinal enforcer."

Soulshiner:

Do you ever have a response to the actual topic instead of posting something else? That, what you posted would actually make a good topic to discuss, by itself.

Exactly what was violent at Guananamo? Was that the product of Christianity? It seems to me that recently you were responding with the fact that this is not just a Christian Nation. Is waterboarding torture? That is an interesting question, but how about the effectiveness against our enemy? Our enemy cuts off heads and sends us videos, and that is just our reporters.

And then there are the Jewish pedophiles:

All religions have evil people representing them. To call one out and not the others is pretty biased.

All religions have good decent people representing them as well. Just showing you that by picking on one, your blinders and bias are just that...
