Boreas Pass Railroad Day is Saturday, August 18, 2012. The two historic schools in Como will be open as well as the roundhouse (only narrow gauge roundhouse left in Colorado) and the Como hotel. You can see the progress of the renovations to the historic Como depot. On Boreas Pass, Roberts Cabin and Swartz Cabin will be open, you can drive or ride a railroad handcar at Rocky Point and at the summit talk to railroad historian Tom Klinger and view his slides of trains on Boreas in the Section House. And get some free pancakes and coffee for breakfast - or as long as they last. On the Summit County side, Engine No. 9 and a rotary snowplow are on display. Other surprises and exhibits are in the works. A great way to spend a Saturday - and it's free! Sponsored by the South Park Ranger District and the South Park National Heritage Area.
