Has found a rescue thx - Female 5-mo Terrier /Shitzu

10 May 2011 07:33 - 10 May 2011 11:43 #1 by EAPL
Thanks everyone this little girl has been accepted by another rescue!

Can you foster this adorable little terrier? She is a cutie and she should find her forever home very quickly. For those of you that are familiar with EAPL you know that we advertise, host adoption events (almost weekly) and we have 5 adoption volunteers working 7-days a week processing our adoptions.

Please say yes; we can foster her! Once we have a committed foster home we can go get her from the shelter. Call Cathleen 303-838-7068

This is her story from the shelter...Monique was originally dumped here with three litter mates and either the daddy or an older sibling (not sure which he was). They were all gross- kennel dogs for sure. Urine smelling, matted, terrified but happy little dogs. Our best guess on breed was Terrier/Shitzu (one pup looked very shitzu). We waited the 5 days, groomed them all, and put them up for adoption. Monique has been Adopted and returned due to the landlord, adopted and returned due to the cost of vet/spay; and most recently adopted and returned due to her being too much puppy for the other dog in the home. Since this is her third time back- I am trying rescue for her. She is about 5 months old. She is current on rabies, distemper. Not fixed at this time. She will be.

How big is she now? Is she house trained? Does she chase cats? Does she get along with other dogs?
Thanks!

here are some answers so far from them - I know that she's 15 to 20 lbs and good with other dogs. I don't think she's fully house trained but not sure. The shelter doesn't test dogs to see if they are ok with cats.....

Thanks! Also, will she stay in a fenced yard with other dogs or will she try to dig out? You know how those terriers can be! :)

unfortunately, they will not know about the digging she is in a concret run. You could try it and pray she stays in the yard. With all of our upcoming adoption events and her being so young it would be a very short stay I am thinking. These little ones tend to go fast. We had 8 lab mix pups and they are already gone and I have apps waiting for the next group of puppies and they are only 3 weeks old but folks are waiting for them. So I think she will go very quickly if I can find a place to put her.

Thing is, we're going out of town on the 26th. I have a live-in house sitter, but hate to add another critter to the list. I am looking at asking a friend to take her and I'm pretty sure she will. She likes to rescue dogs and was wanting to adopt a smaller dog as well. Will have her call you if I can talk her into it. She is a great home--can't be better! Dogs have an acre fenced to run in and live indoors. Spoiled, pampered and loved! Will be in touch.

Thanks so much - as you know these pleas get sent to many rescues but I cannot commit EAPL until I have a confirmed foster home. Sometimes, I do get beat by other rescues for the dogs. I look forward to hearing from your friend. Thanks for thinking of little Monique.

If my friend can't do it, I'll seriously consider it myself. Hate seeing the little girl get passed around so much! Problem for me, is that I truly AM the Queen of Foster Failure. I should have a prize for that... :) Will be in touch.

here is the latest from the shelter - Housebreaking - In the beginning stages of it. Not been around cats; doubt that she would she is very submissive (but not a urinator). She does fine w other same size dogs. She is just at the 6 month point and we try not to interact pups with other dogs. She is the youngest pup here right now.

She did well with my dog (the coordinator trying to get her out said this).
