Almost two months ago, our eldest dog was diagnosed with diabetes and minor cataracts. She's now on insulin, but the cataracts started going overtime; now she's all but periferally blind in one eye, and starting to get there in the other. She can no longer find a treat she drops by site, has trouble going down the stairs, runs into things that people assume she can see but can't.
Other than making sure to not move furniture - or move it back quickly - keeping stuff out of normal walkways, walking ahead of her down the stairs so she stops missing that last step, what can you suggest we do to help her out?
Cataract surgery is out of the question - way too expensive.
