We have a neighbor who's older (30 something) kid and wife live with them. They taunt our dogs (with food and other things) and let their viscious dog fence fight with them. He doesn't seem very bright to us, have any high aspirations, and is very angry at the world for some reason. We haven't done anything to him but he insists on "acting big" as if he owns his parents place or something; and is just causing trouble for them. He is conspiring with anybody he can lie and convince. (which means other "unhappy people" who are angry at the world and just plain "mean" } The parents seem nice and we feel sorry for them; having such an older child and wife living with them . How do you reason with someone like that and make them stop antagonizing the dogs? We hate to have to call the sheriff as we know it would just escalate things and the problem would just get worse. We wish the kid would concentrate on getting his own life together, leave others alone, and stop being angry at "the world". Their house violates several county codes and could easily be reported but we are trying to come up with some sort of peaceful resolution. We are afraid they he may "explode" one day. Any suggestions?
Well, we are not going to move. Everybody thinks he is a whack job anyway. If he wants to get nasty, it will leave no choice but to report his parents property code violations. Then maybe he will have to move and the neighborhood will be upgraded!
I guess we stick it out, and when he goes ballistic, hopefully the law will take care of it! Unfortunately, you never know about these kind of people until they do something. That is the sad part. Why should people have to move, especially, in this economy? I see where you are going, but believe me, the values of surrounding homes, would be higher without all the code violations at this property, not to mention, the other issues. Like we said, the property is in violation of many codes, and we could easily report it, but we feel bad enough for the parents; why should they be penalized for the actions of an older child living in their home. They are already having to deal with having an older child and wife living with them.
Ordinance 6 of the park County Land Use Regulations. That ordinance does not allow junk or in-operable vehicles to be left or stored on residential property.
