Jefferson County Open Space's Meyer Ranch Park off Highway 285 is close to the city but it feels far away. Leashed dogs are welcome, so after parking at the lot at the bottom of the trail and getting your dog or dogs "saddled up," you'll start up the slight incline to the base of the trails. The Owl Perch and Lodgepole trails form a 2 mile loop that's an easy hike for even the novice, making this a great choice for visitors of all ages. When wildflowers are growing along the hillside in the summer months, the space is alive with vibrant color. Your dogs will enjoy ample space to walk and big fields on either side in which to roam. We found that the trails seemed far enough from the highway that we almost forget how close we were. Nice and wooded, and cooler even on a hot day, the walk can be a welcome retreat.
