My collie (herding dog) needs constant stimulation and exercise. It is not bad in the summer but he really needs something to do during the day. We have a ball 'puzzle' that I put treats in and he has to figure out how to get them out, that helps but would like to find some others to mix it up. Do you have any recommendations or know about dog stimulation?
The best way to stimulate your dog is with mental exercises - either a training session or a vigorous game of frisbee, things like that. Puzzles can be a way to stimulate a dog to an extent, but they cannot replace hands-on interaction with the owner. If puzzles are used in combination with vigorous exercise and training, your dog will be happy. Puzzle toys usually involve treats being dispensed, so it's also a good idea if you make sure not to do them too much, or your dog will either lose interest or potentially get too fat. A variety of good puzzle toys can be purchased either at your local pet store or online.
