First Day Guided Hikes @ 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 11:00am & 1:00pm start times

If your New Years Resolution is to get out and enjoy the outdoors more, then kick off the New Year with a winter hike at Colorado's newest state park! We will be participating in the nation-wide event, Americas State Parks First Day Hikes!
We will offer 6 options for hikes with varying degrees of difficulty and start times. For all hikes, please bring what you need to be comfortable for the weather including plenty of water and food. Please check ‘local’ weather conditions, and be prepared for variable trail conditions including; snow, packed snow, and possible icy spots. Above all, prepare to have FUN!
8:30 am- Easy to Moderate
Please meet Volunteers Linda and Susan at the Main parking lot. Volunteer guides will take you on the Davis Ponds loop and then connect to Staunton Ranch and then to Mason Creek via cut off trail. Total mileage will be between 4-5 miles with very little elevation gain. Leashed pets are welcome.
8:30am Moderate to Difficult
Please meet Volunteers Wayne and Sally at the Main parking lot. Volunteer guides will take you on the Staunton Ranch trail to Scout Line, Marmot Passage and then back down Staunton Ranch. Total mileage will be between 7-8 miles with moderate elevation gain, especially on Scout Line. Leashed pets are welcome.
9:00am Moderate to Difficult
Please meet Volunteers Jack and Deborah at the Group Picnic Area parking lot. One of your guides is a certified Colorado Native Plant Master and will share with you their knowledge of the great trees found in the park. The hike will take you on the Staunton Ranch trail to Scout Line, Marmot Passage and then back down Staunton Ranch. Total mileage will be between 7-8 miles with moderate elevation gain, especially on Scout Line. Leashed pets are welcome.
9:30am Moderate to Difficult
Please meet Volunteers Mark and Sandy at the Mason Creek parking lot. Your guides will share their knowledge of the logging and mill history of the park. The hike will lead you on the Mason Creek trail, Old Mill trail and back down to Staunton Ranch. Total mileage will be between 7-8 miles with moderate to difficult elevation gain. Leashed pets are welcome.
11:00am Moderate to Difficult
Please meet Volunteers Gary and Nancy at the Group Picnic Area parking lot. The hike will take you on the Staunton Ranch trail to Scout Line, Marmot Passage and then back down Staunton Ranch. Total mileage will be between 7-8 miles with moderate elevation gain, especially on Scout Line. Leashed pets are welcome.
1:00pm Easy to Moderate
Please meet Volunteers Claudia and Randie at the Group Picnic Area parking lot. The hike will take you on the Staunton Ranch trail to the historic cabin district. Your guides will share the story of those who lived here before the land became a park and the history of putting the park together. Total mileage is between 4-5 miles with easy to moderate elevation gain. Leashed pets are welcome.
