The system is the legacy of an open-space preservation movement that gained momentum in the early 20th century. Over the years, this has given us Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, Echo Lake Park (near the gateway to Mount Evans), Lookout Mountain, Summit Lake, Genesee Park and a host of other spaces for stretching your legs or outright hiking and trail running.

In total, this is one of the largest municipal park systems in the country. With historical connections ranging from Buffalo Bill to the Beatles to Bono and U2, it also boasts some cultural touchstones few other places can rival.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
