Parks and Trails

Get out and enjoy the Jeffco Open Space System, which covers more than 53,000 acres, includes 28 regional parks and boasts a trail system that spans 227 miles. Access maps, trail mileage, history and recreation options on our park pages.

The Activity Guide provides a listing of the types of recreation possible at each park as well as amenity and parking information. The Trail Ratings Guide makes it easier to plan an outing suitable to your level of activity.

For the most recent updates on trail conditions, please follow us on Twitter External Link Icon. Parks and trails across the system were damaged from mid-September 2013 storms and flooding.

From 5280 Magazine: Hike We Like: Meyer Ranch Park Loop
Enjoy views of gorgeous aspen groves along mellow trails in an easy-to-access location.

Why we love it: Moderate hiking, biking, and winter trails through thick stands of quaking aspen and lodgepole pines in a former ranch just off U.S. 285.

When to go: Now, for golden aspens; in winter, for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing; in late spring, to see the forest spring back to life; and in summer, to escape the heat.
