Ice Festivities, Lake Plunge, Hockey Tournaments Coming Soon
The ice skating rink at Evergreen Lake opens for skating tomorrow - just in time for kids to enjoy ice skating during Winter Break.
The opening is about a week later than usual because of a spell of unseasonably warm weather earlier this month. But Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) Park Operations Manager Heart Cameron says the ice now measures a foot thick, which means skating can safely begin.
EPRD operates the world's largest Zamboni-groomed outdoor ice rink, a stunning 8.5-acre stretch of ice with 12 pond hockey rinks and a huge public skating rink, just a half hour from downtown Denver.
Hours
Hours of operation during Winter Break are 8 am-8 pm from Dec. 22, 2014, through Jan. 6, 2015, with shortened public hours on Christmas Eve and Day and New Year's Eve and Day. EPRD's Ice Rink
web page
has details about open hours, admission prices, skate rental, lessons, hockey, private parties, food and drink, and more.
Hotline
Because ice conditions can rapidly change, always check the Skating Rink Hotline before heading to Evergreen Lake to skate. The phone number is 720-880-1391.
