Evergreen Trail Racing Series 2015

Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) invites runners to compete in its 2015 Evergreen Trail Racing Series, five races on challenging mountainous terrain in and around Evergreen. Distances range from a 5K to an epic half-marathon (13.1 miles) to the top of Bergen Peak (elevation 9,708), a climb of over 2,000 vertical feet.


Here is the agenda of races this season:

Evergreen Mountain 15K
June 13, 2015
8 AM (Registration opens at 7 AM)
Alderfer/3 Sisters Park,
West Parking Lot, Evergreen, CO

The Evergreen Mountain 15K takes participants past the Three Sisters and Brother rock formations and 1,000 feet up Evergreen Mountain (8,400 feet elevation) before sprinting down the mountain to the finish.


Elk Meadow 5K & 10K
July 11, 2015
8 AM (Registration opens at 7 AM)
Pioneer Trailhead by Buchanan Park Rec Center, Evergreen, CO

The Elk Meadow 5K/10K race leads runners through rolling hills along the foot of the mountain in Elk Meadow Open Space Park.


Mt. Falcon 15K
Aug 1, 2015
8 AM (Registration opens at 7 AM)
Mt. Falcon Open Space Park, Morrison, CO

Mt. Falcon runners endure a challenging 4-mile, 2,000 vertical feet ascent to the top of Castle Trail, then loop around Mt. Falcon Park and fly back down to the finish, enjoying views of Red Rocks State Park.

(NO RACE PARKING at Mt. Falcon Park. Runners & spectators will be shuttled from The Fort Restaurant, 19192 Hwy 8, Morrison.)


Bergen Peak Half Marathon
Aug. 29, 2015
8 AM (Registration opens at 7 AM)
Pioneer Trailhead by Buchanan Park Rec Center, Evergreen, CO

This 13.1-mile race is epic! Bergen Peak 1/2 Marathon competitors navigate the rolling hills of Elk Meadow and the strenuous switchbacks of Bergen Peak and Too Long Trail. Ascending approximately 1,500 feet, runners will reach an elevation of 9,000 feet.


Fall EverGold 10-Mile Trail Race
Oct. 3, 2015
9 AM (Registration opens at 8 AM)
Lair o' the Bear Park, Idledale, CO

The Fall EverGold 10-Mile Trail Race takes runners uphill along Bear Creek and into the park, then back downhill to the finish.

(The Fall EverGold 2-Mile Race has been discontinued. Children are encouraged to sign up instead for EPRD's Evergreen Kids Triathlon on Aug. 23, 2015. Info at

Awards
Prizes are awarded to the top overall male and female, and to male and female age group winners: Under 20, 20 -29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 & 60+

Fees
$35 in advance / $40 race day
$140 for entire series

Hitz Prevails in Evergreen Mountain 15K

Evergreen, CO (June 13, 2015) -


Men's Winner CJ Hitz

CJ Hitz won the Evergreen Mountain 15K on June 13, 2015, at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park in a blistering time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 25 seconds.

Daniel Fay placed second in 1:16.44.


Stephanie Seybold was the first woman to finish the challenging race to the top of Evergreen Mountain, in 1:20:24.

Sixty-two people competed in the race, which was the first event in the 2015 Evergreen Trail Racing Series, five races on challenging mountainous terrain in and around Evergreen put on by Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) . Distances range from a 5K to an epic half-marathon (13.1 miles) to the top of Bergen Peak (elevation 9,708), a climb of over 2,000 vertical feet.

The race took participants past the Three Sisters and Brother rock formations and 1,000 feet up Evergreen Mountain (8,400 feet elevation) before sprinting down the mountain to the finish.

Brandy Earholz Wins Elk Meadow 5K;
Jerome Perkins Takes 10K

Evergreen, CO (July 14, 2015) -

Brandy Earholtz won the Elk Meadow 5K Trail Race on Saturday, July 11, 2015, finishing a full minute before first male finisher Tim Miller in 26 minutes and 7 seconds. Miller finished in 27:07.

The champion of the 10K was Jerome Perkins in 41:08. Chris Adamowski was the women's winner, covering the hilly course in 49:59.

The series comprises five races on challenging mountainous terrain in and around Evergreen. This race is epic! Bergen Peak runners will endure the rolling hills of Elk Meadow and the strenuous switchbacks of Bergen Peak and Too Long Trail. While ascending approximately 1,500 feet, runners will peak at a total elevation of 9,000 feet as they cover this 13.1 mile course. Participants should meet at the Buchanan Park Recreation Center near the Pioneer Trail head.
