Do you ever wish you could add sketches to your field notes to better remember the names and characteristics of the plants you see? If so, this class is for you! Drawing is one of the best ways to enhance your observation skills, discover plants' intricate details and create a lasting record. Participants at the first session at Lookout Mountain Nature Center will learn drawing basics such as line, shape, proportion, negative space and techniques for sketching various flower shapes. Session two at Pine Valley will focus on leaves, shading, adding color to sketches and techniques for quickly capturing subject matter. Each session will include time to practice your new skills along the trails. By the end of class you will be ready to get creative and add sketches to your notes, nature journals and more! This class is geared for beginners, but those with prior art experience are welcome. Please note - this is not a technical botanical illustration course.
