Glass Shards on North Fork Trail of Reynolds Park Not Intentionally Placed

Recently it was reported that there might be spikes on the North Fork Trail at Reynolds Park. Ranger Neil did some investigating and found something interesting. He scoured the lower portion of the trail and found a fair amount of glass shards embedded into the trail within the first 200 feet from South Platte Hotel. At first, it looked as if someone was intentionally scattering glass on the trail, but upon closer examination it appears that this area may have been used as a historic dumping site. The slope adjacent to the trail contained numerous fragments of glass in the loose soil that appear to be eroding into the trail during heavy rain events. The glass is fairly weathered and was likely in place prior to construction of the trail (see photo).

Glad to hear it wasn't intentional but still scary. Thanks for cleaning up the glass shards!
