CBS Denver: Crews Work To Prevent Summer Wildfires In Wet Conditions

24 May 2019 11:34 #1 by FriendsofStauntonStatePark
Thank you to CBS Denver for highlighting the work Staunton State Park staff and volunteers are doing to help reduce our fire danger! FYI, the Friends of Staunton State Park purchased replacement chain saws for the rangers to use so we must thank our donors for their support of our efforts to 'Preserve, Promote, and Protect' our state park! We've still got a ways to go to fully mitigate all ~4,000 acres, but we'll get there!

While we've had a lot of snow this winter and fire danger is greatly lessened, please remember that campfires of any kind are forbidden within Staunton State Park. If you book one of the campsites, you may bring propane stoves that can be turned off with a switch (similar to the Stage 2 Restrictions in Jeffco Open Space). Thank you!

Crews Work To Prevent Summer Wildfires In Wet Conditions

CONIFER, Colo. (CBS4) – Despite the snowy, rainy conditions across much of Colorado, wildfire mitigation crews are still busily at work in some areas doing their best to prevent future fires. Evidence of that can be seen in a video shared by a Colorado State Park on social media.
