The Bailey HUNDO: The Senators' Underground Invitational was the the premiere 100-mile endurance mountain bike race of Colorado, based out of Front Range mountain biking destination Bailey, Colorado. Sponsored by four Colorado State Senators, the proceeds of the race will not only enhance the singletrack trail system around Bailey, but also promote mountain biking to at-risk youth, and high schoolers around the state by supporting Trips For Kids Denver/Boulder and the newly-founded Colorado High School Cycling League (CHSCL).
Rumor has it (I was talking to my new neighbor the other day and he mentioned it) that Bailey is something of a hub for mountain biking in Colorado. Apparently 285 South/West of Bailey towards Kenosha Pass used to be where the railroad ran? He also mentioned something about an entrance to the Colorado Trail and others in the area. Any truth to these rumors?
There is access to the Colorado Trail both directions from Kenosha Pass. The trail east/towards Denver is shorter because of the Lost Creek Wilderness, but picks up south of Bailey and runs back to Waterton Canyon, the beginning on this end. It is spotty on the other side of Georgia Pass towards Breckenridge, but beautiful all along it.
