This. Will. Be. Epic! I'm glad it's been so long since I read this series (my favorite by Stephen King) that I won't remember what they change in the movie from the books because this looks awesome and not remembering the details I'm sure I'll enjoy it more. I adore Idris Elba (Roland Deschain, The Gunslinger) and Matthew McConaughey (The Man in Black), and these visual effects, watching The Gunslinger reload by swiping his gun down his belt or catching the bullets flying through the air in the chamber, looks so badass this has to rock! #EXCITED
One of the best opening lines in a book ever: “The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.” ―Stephen King, The Gunslinger

In a world full of superheroes, there’s only one Gunslinger. From the epic best-selling novels by Stephen King comes #DarkTowerMovie
There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.
“I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart.”
― Stephen King, The Gunslinger
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I wasn't a huge fan of what I saw of The Dark Tower at CinemaCon, but you gotta believe me when I say that I hope my instinct on this one is wrong. I've been a Tower junkie since I hit puberty and nothing would make me happier to see this done justice on the big screen.
Even now, knowing they're cherry picking the best of the best stuff to tease out before the full trailer drops, I find a little hope burning in my chest. There's something so gleefully meta (fitting) about Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba playing their characters on social media that I can't help but smile.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Sony's YouTube page has the Dark Tower trailer up. I don't know if it was a mistake that it went live in the wee hours of the morning or what, but the trailer is out there now, at long last.
And... It's better, on the whole, than the glimpses I got at CinemaCon. Still have some major issues with a few choices made and it still doesn't feel right to me, but it's a step in the right direction.
I don't often do trailer breakdowns, but I want to talk about this one in-depth, so stay tuned after the trailer for some detailed thoughts and screengrabs.

Well, after the horrible reviews I couldn't bring myself to ever go see this (despite my love for Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey), but I was pleased to see this news as it seems a much better format for the long books:
The film adaptation may have been a dud, but the Dark Tower TV series is moving forward, and it’s found a home. Amazon has picked up the rights to the series, along with a slew of other titles, in their quest to beat Netflix with original streaming content.
There are no further details on the Amazon series, but it was reported that former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara was hired as the showrunner. Before The Dark Tower hit theaters, director Nikolaj Arcel revealed he wrote part of the pilot episode, and claimed the series would be much more canonical than the film.
“Go then, there are other worlds than these.”
