Finally got to see this movie and it was great. So much more filling than the Joss Whedon version.
Strange history of the film. Snyder had his daughter commit suicide when he was making the movie, so he asked for some time off to deal with his loss. The movie studio disagreed, fired him, brought in a new director.
Whedon's version was instantly forgettable. Just your standard get a team of superheroes together to fight a 2D villain.
Fans started demanding to see the fabled "Zack Snyder" cut of the movie. And the fans won in this case. Clocking in at four hours, it took us two nights to watch. And we got so into it, we would actually stop the film and talk about what was going on. Very interesting way to watch a movie.
